Aloha e Family and Friends,
It is with a heavy heart that we humbly come before you to once again ask for your kokua for Kumu Lahela. Kumu has recently had a change in her health status. As most of you know she has been diagnosed with cancer. Her doctors were unable to treat this rare form of cancer with chemo therapy and radiation due to the type of cancer she was diagnosed with. As a result, she underwent multiple surgeries to “cut the cancer out,” which entailed multiple trips to the Mayo Clinic in Minnesota. While in Minnesota on her most recent follow up, she was given a new diagnosis of Stage 4 Lung cancer. We are all deeply saddened by this news! The thought of such a challenging road ahead was a harsh and frightening reality to face! But we have to focus on the “Win.” So, the silver lining in this situation is that she can now undergo chemo therapy and radiation to help treat her condition! This is one positive we can all keep with us as we do our very best to support her! By being able to undergo chemo therapy and radiation, she now has one more way to shrink, and even kill, the cancer cells in her body, and help alleviate some of her pain.
While she faces her new diagnosis, head on, Kumu finds strength in her deep love for her daughter, Kamalei, and her ohana! Her family has changed their whole routine to be able to help with 24 hour care for Kumu. But they cannot do it alone.
We are humbly asking for donations to help alleviate the financial burdens kumu is enduring while she is going through treatment. If you are able to donate, please know that we are forever grateful for your contribution! Every bit counts and is greatly and genuinely appreciated! All of the monies acquired will help with kumu’s immediate and urgent needs during this time, especially her medical bills.
Mahalo Nui to you all for your generous spirit and kokua! Please know that this is a humble request and if you are unable to donate at this time we truly understand! We ask that you please continue to pray for Kumu Lahela and her daughter, Kamalei.
Me ke aloha!
