Support for Kumanjayi Granites’ Final Journey
My name is Amanda Pehi, and I have had the privilege of living and working as a school teacher within the Central Desert region for the past 10 years. Over this decade, I have come to deeply love and respect the families and the culture of this community.
Recently, our community was shattered by the unthinkable loss of Kumanjayi Granites. She was a beautiful, innocent soul whose life was cruelly taken far too soon. While the details of this tragedy are horrific and have left us all in mourning, my focus now is on supporting the family she left behind.
Why We Are Raising Funds
I recently went through the process of burying my own father, and I know firsthand that the financial burden of a funeral is immense. No mother or grandmother should have to worry about costs while navigating the deepest kind of grief imaginable.
Every dollar raised will go directly to Kumanjayi’s mother and grandmother to help them:
• Cover the significant costs of funeral and burial services.
• Manage travel and cultural requirements for the family.
• Provide a small buffer for the family as they navigate the difficult months ahead.
How You Can Help
Kumanjayi deserved a long life full of joy. While we cannot change what happened, we can come together to ensure she is laid to rest with the dignity, love, and peace she deserves.
• Donate: Any amount, no matter how small, makes a difference.
• Share: Please share this link with your networks to help us reach our goal.
Thank you for your kindness, your empathy, and for standing with this family during their darkest hour.
Note: In accordance with Aboriginal cultural protocols, we refer to the deceased as Kumanjayi to respect the mourning process of her family and community.
