Aloha Ka Kou!
Kulia I Ka Nu`u Foundation, in Ka’a’awa, HI, is seeking a grant to expand an after school tutoring program with the objective of helping all at risk students increase their reading and math test scores as well as provide social/emotional support. Our objective is provide a safe learning environment for students to achieve their own personal academic goals. Funding in the amount of $13,200 per year, is requested for providing three highly qualified tutors and purchasing the required supplies/food to have a functioning after school tutoring program.
This non-profit caters to a small community on the Windward side of Oahu that is in need of suuport.
Ka’a’awa Elementary is a small school in which 50% have been determined to be at risk in mathematics, reading, and writing skills for a variety of reasons including, learning disabilities or other economic-based difficulties. If these students are not given an opportunity to gain support in their social/emotional and academic skills they are, as studies show, more likely to be truant and drop out of school.
With your generous support, the children of Ka`a`awa will have additional after-school opportunities to better themselves and the community around them.
