Jim Crenshaw, Honoring a Hero

Donation protected
My father, Jim "Coach" Crenshaw passed on September 25th peacefully in his sleep at home due to complications of heart disease. We are now working tirelessly to get his final affairs in order, so he can be at peace. His surviving family will be the beneficiary of this GoFundMe, coordinated by me, his daughter, Amber Crenshaw. All funds raised are to pay for his services and memorial, to relieve financial hardship during our time of grieving. He is survived by his wife Sherrie and his 9 children; Erica, Michael, Kevin, Amber, Breauna, Camilee, Isabella, and James II and a bonus daughter, Shyenne.

This Father of nine was active in his children's lives and the community. James started his commitment to service by enlisting in the United States Army in 1986, he was later stationed in Germany and witnessed the fall of the Berlin wall. As his children grew up, this Bay Area sports fanatic took to coaching t ball, baseball, softball, football, and basketball. Through James' 17 years of coaching he inspired hundreds of children to go down swinging, to run through anything in your path, and always go back to basics. James was also involved in numerous fundraisers for schools and sports teams. He joined the Veterans of Foreign Wars and in doing so took on the role of collection and distribution of food boxes and presents for families in need during the holidays.

James' health began to drastically decline in the past two years.  His medical misfortune began with a military accident that left his spine irreversibly injured and required multiple back surgeries, rods inserted, and physical rehabilitation. Due to the amount of trauma his body had experienced from his injuries, his balance was affected to the point where falling down was a normal occurrence. In March of this year James was diagnosed with congestive heart failure, and though he fought, it eventually took his life. His military career left him with PTSD, deteriorating mental health, and commonly would injure himself from falls. All of these reasons combined  he was hospitalized 14 times in 2020 alone.  Injuries from falls included a crack at the base of his skull, broken ribs, a concussion, and a dislocated shoulder. This furthered the financial turmoil the family has been put through and adds to the hardship of this tragedy.

My Father was a strong, compassionate, and joyful man. We will miss the life of the party and those big warm hugs but in our sorrow we hope to continue his legacy by doing the things he loved. To celebrate his life we will once again step foot on the softball fields he coached, and where his children played, to share pictures and stories during his memorial celebration. (Date Pending, Check Updates) Jim was the sole provider of his household. All funds will go towards: cremation, celebration of life, obituary, and to ease any financial burden put on his widow with 3 young children.

God bless you, if you have read our story this far I hope you have been compelled to share our tale, hold your family close, and always honor your hero's.
