The past few years have been a lot for all of us, but if I learned anything, it’s that no one should have to go through a pandemic alone, especially not as a middle schooler. But I, unlike some, didn’t have to. I met my best friend Bella in the sixth grade, and throughout the years of COVID that followed, she stayed by my side. She taught me that family is who you are given, but also who you choose. Bella, her parents, and her little brother Mikey let me into their life and I couldn’t have asked for a better “second family” as we call it.

A few weeks ago, we were told that Mikey needed spinal surgery. He is getting through it okay, but due to complications, there’s going to be a lot of procedures and medical bills. Our little guy needs support, and if you’re able, it would mean the world to me and my family if you would donate to help Mikey get better.

And to Bella and Mikey’s family, I love you all so much. He’s gonna get better and come home soon.
