About 2 years ago my best friend Scott McIntyre stepped on a nail and noticed a lump in his groin area a few weeks later.   The doctors thought it to be an infection from the nail.  After anti-biotics failed to control the infection, more tests were done and it was discovered Scott had Cancer. Large b-cell lymphoma to be precise. Obviously we were all devastated but optimistic about his chances of beating this disease. He started a series of chemotherapy treatments followed by a one month stay in the hospital reintroducing his stem cells back into his body to boost his immune system. It had been a long, hard fight and by June of 2014, he was in remission and we celebrated with a party.  Our excitement was short lived however. A few months later he noticed that the lump had returned and a pet scan confirmed the cancer was back.  He has since been through a couple of clinical trial treatments that were providing optimism but eventually failed to cure the disease.  Scott has been trying to work through all this but an open wound in his leg (original location of the lump) caused by the cancer and the constant treatments eventually kept him from maintaining employment.  The lymphoma has now spread to his lungs and he is currently enduring another series of chemotherapy to try to shrink the cancer and close the wound in his leg.  The insurmountable medical bills and the inability to work have been overwhelming to his family.  Over these 2 years, many people who know Scott have come to me and asked if there was anything they can do for him and his family. My response was usually “not at this time but I will let you know if that changes”.  Well my friends, now is the time.  This site is a combined collaboration of his family and loved ones who want to offer our support.  Those of you who know Scott understand that he would be the first in line to help us in our time of need.  Please help Scott and Cindy keep their focus on his recovery and not on the pile of medical bills that are adding up.
