Katie-Girls Selects Hockey & More

Donation protected
We returned from our first "Blitz weekend" in St Louis! Katie enjoyed meeting her new teammates and "getting on the ice". We are super excited for the new season and Katie continues working hard for future oppotunities.

Katie has committed to play for the St Louis Lady Blues U14 AAA team for the 2015-2016 season. We will join them for travel tournaments and practice weekends starting the end of August. First tournament is NAHA, in Stowe, Vermont for Labor Day. We will continue fund raising for the 2016 World Selects in Central Europe (instead of Italy) as well as many of these same opportunities for the next West Coast Selects season.

Rochester NAPS - WCS made it to semifinals. Katie enjoyed meeting many girls who had played in Italy. The Elite Camp was fun too with Katie earning the MVP for the U14 white team!

Updates... Katie scored a hat trick in her first game in Minnesota! Her team made it to the championship game placing 2nd. She faced the challenge of AAA hockey in Chicago playing both forward and defense as needed, an important role as utility player! Her team lost in a shoot out in the semifinal. In Vancouver, the Honey Badgers earned a bronze metal. In Toronto, West Coast Selects took 2nd place! Katie is having so much fun meeting people and making memories.

Wow. An invitation just came in for the Midwest NAPS in Chicago. IL. May 8-10. Again, Idaho is famous for so many amazing things... not hockey. So we travel. Katie is committed to play in FIVE spring/ early summer tournaments. Three teams... Colorado Lady Kodiaks, Cascade Honey Badgers and West Coast Selects!

When it rains it pours hockey invitations! Katie must have potential, as she is being recognized by different people. While in Colorado Springs for the President's Day Cup tournament,  Katie was noticed by Colorado Thunderbird coaches. She was invited to join the Colorado Lady Kodiaks AAA Elite Girls U12 team for the Minnesota Meltdown April 23-25. During that same weekend, we met a Seattle coach who invited Katie to join the Cascade Honey Badgers AAA Girls U12 in British Columbia, Canada May 15-17 for the Challenge Cup. WOW! With these funds, Katie is now comitted to attend both tournaments and skate with several girls teams in addition to Selects Hockey (see below). It continues to be a challenge asking for financial help and finding opportunities for sponsorship.

Thank you
for all your support so far. The good news is that Katie is signed up to play in the Ponytail Challenge in Toronto, Canada June 12-14 and two weeks later in the NAPS tournament in Rochester, NY June 26-28, immediately followed by their NAPS Elite Camp for five days June 28-July 2. Unfortunately, we were not able to make the deadline for Italy in regards to fundraising. We hope to have more opportunities in the future. It has not been easy.

Katie's hockey career started when she was 5. She has been trying to keep up with her two older brothers ever since. Well this year she has one-up'd them...

By making the West Coast Selects U14 Girls hockey team, Katie was invited to four tournaments... Bolzano, Italy (World Selects Invitational May 1-10), Quebec, Canada (Sherbrooke Invitational May 29-31) Toronto, Canada (Ponytail Challenge June 12-14) and Rochester, NY (NAPS June 26-28) as well as the 2015 Selects Hockey Girls NAPS Elite Camp June 28-July 2 also in Rochester, NY.

Selects Hockey has worked with top 12-16-year-old hockey players across North America and Europe to expose them to all avenues of hockey in an effort to facilitate opportunities at the prep school, NCAA, Junior and Professional levels.

Any and all help to cover expenses is much appreciated!
