Hi everyone,
My name is Mary, and my husband's name is Joey. Our 5-year-old German Shepherd, Sadie, was diagnosed with cancer the week of Thanksgiving this past year. Sadie had no symptoms and was acting completely normal when the cancer was found during a routine vet visit. We have been devastated to say the least, but we have been doing as much as we can for her—exploring all treatment options at both our primary vet and a specialty vet. At this time, the only treatment option is to have the tumor and one of her enlarged lymph nodes surgically removed on January 3rd. The vet bill itself is between $10,326 and $11,437 currently. Joey and I have the funds for half of the bill, but we will need to pay the bill upfront in full prior to surgery. Neither Joey nor I are keen on asking for help from family/friends, especially strangers, but for Sadie, we will do whatever we can to help her.
For our friends who know Sadie already, she is the best (attention-seeking) dog, and we think of her and love her as our kid. For those who don't know Sadie, she loves everyone—her humans, all kids, and even strangers. She loves her younger dog brother and her two cat siblings. Car rides, Starbucks pup cups, and trips to the park, beach, and mountains (with snow) are among the things she lives for, and both Joey and I want to be able to give her the longest, happiest life filled with all of the things she loves.
If you are able to donate, whether you are a friend or a stranger, we appreciate you more than we can express in words. Any additional funds will go towards her follow-up care after surgery, which includes ultrasounds every 3 months for a year, then every 6 months indefinitely, along with lab work and any medications for treatment she may need.
