Living and Medical expenses.

To know my Brother, Ken Gosney is to know a kind-hearted man that will do whatever he can to help others, to love them and make them feel appreciated and valued. He loves people and is a compassionate and caring man who would do anything for any of us.
Ken and his family now stand in need of our help! He would never ask or want me to do this but I want to help in a way that shows them how loved they are and how all the years of them loving others did not go unnoticed.
At the beginning of May, Ken went in to have a Coloscopy and Endoscopy done because he has been dealing with Acid Reflux and a Hernia for years. He knows that God spoke directly to him and pushed him to go get things checked out and to get help with getting things under control.
As a result of those test they removed 3 polyps from his colon and 1 from his throat for testing. The biopsy from his throat came back and additional testing was ordered. In mid-May, Ken was diagnosed with esophageal cancer.
Ken will be having a major surgery called an Esophagectomy on July, 14th to remove a good section of his esophagus and most of his stomach. They will make what remains of his stomach into a new esophagus and reconnect everything. The surgery itself is a 7-8-hour surgery, with a week to two week stay in the Hospital and several days in ICU. He will have a feeding tube for 3-4 months while the new esophagus, stomach and all connections heal properly.
Ken will most likely be out of work for around a month or more. He has a long road of recovery and a complete lifestyle change ahead of him. If you know Ken well you know that he is a provider for his family and he loves Teresa and his girls more than anything. He is the main source of income for the family and unfortunately does not have disability insurance.
Teresa, started a part time job in February to help with the expenses from McKena’s wedding and now is going to be able to go full time at her job once Ken is home and back on his feet a little. She will be off work for at least the week to two weeks that Ken is in the hospital. She will also need to be with him the first two weeks he is at home as he will need someone to be there to care for him. Once she is able she will go back work full time until Ken is back on his feet and able to return full time himself.
Like I said, Ken is a provider by nature, it is who he is, so this part of all this is not easy for him and is an area of stress and major concern. He is concerned with how they are going to be able to cover living expense when they are out of work and also the medical bills that are already coming in.
I have started this GoFund Me page as a way to help relieve the burden of all of this for Ken and Teresa. They don’t want help but are going to need help and we all have an opportunity to love them through this by helping if we are able. If you can give I know they would appreciate you and if you can’t please give of your prayers as they walk these next few months out.
