Help for Maggie

Our mother was recently diagnosed with a four centimeter meningioma in her brain, which is a slow-growing tumor about the size of a kiwi located just behind her right eye. She is currently being treated for brain swelling and is being tended to by her children.

The diagnosis follows several months of headaches and a decline in her ability to perform routine tasks.  She is scheduled for brain surgery to remove the tumor on Wednesday, June 17th at Kaiser in Redwood City, and is expected to need 4-6+ weeks of recovery time. The good news is that this tumor is very likely benign, and her neurologist is confident that the procedure will go as expected.

Her health insurance will not cover all costs of the surgery and necessary rehabilitation. After visiting her house this week, it is apparent that our once 'neat-freak' mother was letting things slip around the house. Her children would like to bring her home from surgery so she can recover in a clean house with new carpets, and with all needed repairs addressed. We are hoping to raise funds to help cover the associated medical costs, and to improve her quality-of-life when she returns home.
