Hello! My name is Emily, and I am a Home Services Assistant Manager for Best Buy. I have been with the company for about 7 years, and am constantly touched by the generosity and care every single person brings to our Best Buy family. I have never worked for a company who has consistently put their people first. When I was approached about creating this page, I hung up with happy tears in my eyes.
This page is for my mother, Nancy. She was recently diagnosed with stage 3 lung cancer. Like many, my mom is the most important person in my life. If I could take the pain of this year away from her, I would in a heartbeat.
For those that don’t know, my father passed away in August. They started dating when she was 17 and never looked back. She still has framed pictures of their prom in our living room. After he passed, she was our family’s rock. Taking every new obstacle with grace and patience, she was there for her three children at every turn.
In November, she was laid off from her career. She had been with the company for 20 years. She has until very recently been eligible for government assisted insurance at a high cost per month, but with the diagnosis earlier this week we are looking at significantly higher bills than that insurance could help with.
Due to the COVID-19 pandemic, most of the oncology units in our area are shutting down or not accepting new patients. One of the units in our area that is still open is asking for a PET scan before chemotherapy can begin. A PET scan in our area runs about $5,000 when paid out of pocket. All donations will be put directly towards the PET scan or chemotherapy after, depending on need.
I appreciate all those who have read this and those who have wished myself and my family love and positivity. This Best Buy family has and always will mean so much to me, regardless of money or donations. I appreciate the opportunity Best Buy has given me to communicate and connect with you all, and I hope you and yours stay safe and healthy.
