Recovery for Pablo Marticorena

On Monday 5/2, our dad had a brain bleed that led to a stroke. The bleed has since stopped, but because of where it is we just have to wait for it to absorb and his body to heal. He is making improvements every day! He no longer needs neurology checks every few hours, is much more alert and responsive, and was already downgraded to a regular patient instead of critical care. He lost the ability to move his right side and cannot stand or walk, but has been gaining feeling back and is working on regaining his movement. 

There is a long road of recovery ahead for him. 

As soon as he is given the okay, he will be moving to an inpatient rehabilitation facility for a minimum of two weeks at least. God is in control though and can do anything! With God's healing and my dad's determination, we are praying he will be back home as quick as possible. In order to come home, they need to have the concrete sidewalk redone and add a stair railing for him to get inside.

Our dad is the breadwinner with two kids still living at home and as most of you know, he is self employed with a very physically demanding career. This means there is no disability pay from a job, and no guarantee for what the future holds as far as his ability to lay tile again. Our mom works as a caregiver currently, but will have to change her focus to be our dad's primary caregiver. 

We want our amazing father to be able to focus completely on God and his body recovering, with as little financial stress as possible right now. There will be steep medical bills after this, the cost to make their home accessible for him, and regular monthly bills will keep coming. We have set the goal close to their max OOP expense after insurance for now, until we know more about costs for home accessibility and whatever else is needed. 

If you know my dad - he surely has made you laugh with his constant jokes, magic tricks, and the pure joy that radiates from him. He is the most faith filled, generous, loving, and humorous man. All the messages and prayers are truly appreciated. Our parents are overwhelmed by the love they have received so far ❤
