Please help us raise money for Ruth's medical costs and for operating the Yoga Institute of Broward while she is recovering.
Ruth and I met in 1999 when we had our practices (massage for her; acupuncture for me) in the same office. We immediately became fast friends.
As many of you know, Ruth Ann Bradley recently had emergency abdominal surgery. She has a long haul ahead of her with an additional surgery coming in another few months.
Ruth is one of the most upbeat people I know, in spite of random setbacks in her life. When she was young, she was training to become a jockey, when a horse fell on her, crushing her ankle, lower leg and foot. Doctors said she might never walk… but after 18 months in traction, using yoga to exercise in bed during her recovery, she did walk.
But along with the walking came pain – constant, and bearable only with the blessings of a yoga practice. Iyengar Yoga became her passion, & she eventually opened her own studio – The Yoga Institute of Broward. Through the studio, in public classes & private lessons, Ruth has helped countless students find health and balance in their lives. Ruth’s knowledge of the body and her teaching style made the Yoga Institute of Broward one of the most successful yoga studios in Broward County.
However, during the ensuing years after her accident, her ankle was deteriorating. The surgeon from her original accident in 1985 told her that the time would come when her ankle would just be “done”, and that maybe by then there would be ankle replacement surgery. 2013 – there WAS a new ankle replacement surgery, and Ruth chose to have that done since it was either that, or life in a wheelchair. That surgery was a huge success, & Ruth – again because of her yoga practice – recovered better than any other patient ever having that procedure.
But now, only two years later, life has thrown Ruth yet another cruel obstacle. Ruth is home and recovering from the first of two sudden & life-saving operations, with the same positive outlook she has always had. But she is looking at some very high medical bills and facing the expenses of running the yoga studio during her absence.
We would like to raise $25,000 to help Ruth meet these obligations while recovering from this latest event.
Won’t you help?
