New wheelchair

Donation protected

Hi, my name is Jamie. I'm 27 and I live in Orlando, FL. When I was 18 I was diagnosed with Limb Girdle Muscular Dystrophy.  At the time, I thought my life was over.  It took a few years for me to realize that actualy, my life was just begining.

It was hard getting used to not being able to walk on my own and always asking for help.  Eventually I was walking with a cane but I had no independence at all. Even though I had the cane, I never felt comfortable or balenced.

Around September 2013 I started using a manuel wheelchair full time. I used to hate needing to use it, but after some time, I actually started to like it. I gained a sense of independence I never thought I'd ever see again.

Now, I'm in a manuel wheelchair full time. I've gone through three of them so far. They have all been hand-me-downs or loners from others. Don't get me wrong, I appreciate that more than anything, but I need something for ME, and unfortunately, I can't afford one. I need a chair that I can feel confident and comfortable in. I need a chair that I'm not ashamed of being in.

These chairs aren't cheap. The government does't provide enough money for me to be able to get one on my own. I feel kind of lame making a fundraiser for myself but I have no other choice.

This is my life now, I want to be able to enbrace it to the fullest. I just feel I need a new chair to do so.

Anything helps.

Everyone who can spare a buck or two, please provide an address because I would like to send you letter.

Thank you,
Jamie Breslin
