Help Anna Beat Hodgkin’s Lymphoma
Donation protected
Hi everyone,
This GoFundMe has been put together to help financially support our dearest Anna in her fight against cancer. Anna is a 21-year-old Connecticut native; she is one of four children in a blended family and the only daughter. She is also a fraternal twin to her loving brother Seth. Her stepfather is a firefighter and mom a full-time grad student working on her PhD. Anna attended the Academy of Aerospace and Engineering, a magnet high school in Windsor Connecticut. Following high school Anna worked several waitressing jobs and taught horseback riding lessons full time at a local stable training over 50 students of all ages. In August 2021, after being hired by Sky West Airlines, Anna attended a month-long training program in Salt Lake City, obtaining her FAA certification and finishing near the top of her class. After completion of her training Anna was assigned San Francisco as her domicile, so Anna (and her then boyfriend Scott) packed up their belongings and their beloved beagle Hogarth and loving kitten Bleu and moved from Connecticut to California to pursue her dream of being a flight attendant. The cost of living is much higher in California, but they were determined to make it work and settled in a new apartment in Oakland. Sadly, after only 2 months, Anna’s new life suddenly took a turn when she noticed a lump in her neck. After going to the doctor she was very quickly diagnosed with Stage 3 Classical Nodular Sclerosing Hodgkin’s Lymphoma. The diagnosis will likely mean extensive chemotherapy and Anna being unable to fly for an extended period. Following this devastating news, Anna and Scott decided to marry before beginning her treatment. They were married on January 15th in a small private ceremony overlooking the ocean in Bodega Bay, California performed by her loving older brother Jacob with only immediate family in attendance.
Anna’s full treatment plan is still being determined, but it is likely she will undergo roughly 7 months of chemotherapy. This treatment according to her Oncologist has a high probability of rendering her infertile, crushing her dreams of becoming a mom without Fertility Preservation which likely won’t be covered by insurance. On top of her getting treatment and all the difficulties and additional expenses that accompany that, she and Scott will have significantly less income throughout the months ahead. Because Anna is so new to her job, she does not qualify for FMLA and has no accrued sick time to use. Her extended absence may even cost her her job (She has applied for a leave of absence). This fundraiser will assist them with routine bills (rent, utilities, groceries, co-pays, parking for treatments and doctor visits) and other necessities to allow them to stay in their new apartment and get back to the new life they started. Anna has a long strenuous journey ahead of her, but she is a strong, fearless, bubbly badass and she will beat this!
Our entire family deeply appreciates any and all support you can give, thank you!
