Each of you here had your own relationship with Cantea, each of you have your own set of memories and your own word picture that describe him. I don’t presume to know the man that you knew. But I hope that, in this eulogy that I offer, you will recognize some part of the man that we all knew, the man that is no longer amongst us, the man who will never be gone until all of us here have passed.
Cantea had a quick temper, a temper that flared, ran hot and died just as quickly. We all got a taste of his sickness and couldn't help but feel for him and his long suffering.
He considered everything good in his life a gift from God, and he gave richly out of what God had given. He was a man of integrity in all he did and generous with all he had. He gave to strangers, to us, to anyone who was in need from the little that he had. He never asked for anything in return. His biggest pleasure in life was to help out anyone in need. He offered shelter, he openned his home to everyone and never stopped spreading the word of God. Our dad loved the Lord. He was faithful to the church and to his ministry. His faith and the many beautiful ways it manifested itself served as such an example to me. When everything else was fading away, the one area that always remained was his love of the Lord.
Toward the end, when things were more difficult, most of us found ourselves no longer hoping for earthly healing or a miracle cure. But that isn’t to say that we stopped being hopeful. Having faith that our dad would be healed was only one area where we could prove our faith. We had faith that there was something better ahead for him, we had hope that he would be at peace soon. We believe that the future holds good things. Asking God to heal dad is one of the most common prayers we have prayed over the past ten years. And we finally got what we wanted. Dad beat pain because pain cannot follow him where he is now.
We ask for your help with taking care of his bills and funeral expenses. Anything will help. We thank you.
