As most of you know, Blake was just 10 years old, when he was diagnosed with Stage 4 Hodgkins Lymphoma. He went into remission after a year, and then he relapsed, again being diagnosed at stage 4. He has been battling with cancer for 5 years now, and had over 20 rounds of intense adult chemotherapy, had numerous operations and biopsies multiple hospital stays and recently had a stem cell transplant to give him a new immune system and hopefully prevent it ever coming back.
Unfortunately Blake developed sepsis and pneumonia after transplant and spent 3 weeks in intensive care fighting for his life, he is now finally recovering after 3 months in hospital, but he has been left unable to walk due to all the treatment and muscle wastage from being in bed for so long. With his feet stuck in tiptoe position, and special needs, Blake isnt able to follow normal physio instruction and would really benefit from hydrotherapy to get him walking again for summer. There are no longer any hydrotherapy sessions available on the nhs anywhere near us, public pools are not an option as he is very high risk of infection, so we have had the idea of taking Blake to a small private pool that we will hire once a week (at a cost of £50 a session) to get him moving again.
This will be ongoing until he has his mobility back but any left over funds will go towards a specialist adapted caravan stay at the beach for Blakes 16th birthday and as many treats and sweets (and cheese) we can shower him with. He has coped with more in his life than any child should have to and he more than deserves a break now and to enjoy his life,
