A grandmothers dream

Hi my name is Tara, I am the youngest daughter of Tracey.

My siblings and I Have started this gofund me to give our mum her dream holiday as it could possible her last ever one.

In 2018 my mum was diagnosed with stage four renal cancer (kidney) resulting her having her kidney removed a long 8 month hospital stay, During this time she was in icu from complications in her surgery and having to learn to walk again.

Fast forward to what we thought was her in remission and her cancer metastasised in her lung, causing her lungs to have over 30 lesions and mum starting immunotherapy for 2 years.

what looked to be working well but not without its side affects, hair loss, severe wait loss and now 89% of her body having arthritis (most her her spine and neck is covered) being her treatment was a trial medication they are not liable..

From being a bubbly, happy and able mum and grandmother, to now barely being able to walk up our stairs.

Fast forward to 2 years ago and new lesions have returned into her liver and lung.. this new treatment being a trial drug again has not worked, the lesion has grown and now needs to be treated by our lost hope radiation.

The location of the lesions all but 1 are okay to treat however 1 13mm lesion is right next to her heart and there is a huge risk of 1 treatment not working and 2 mum dying during the treatment.

We Have tried to obtain help from NDIS as mum is now unable to drive without medication, and her treatment is a month of everyday visits for radiation.

The ndis has stated that cancer is not a disability however the medication has now caused her to have a life long disability.

She is not eligible for age care, or any business that assist in the home or travel for aged care.

We are now having to pay out of pocket for a support worker to take her everyday for hospital visits and treatment, as I am unable to do so being her sole carer with my own 4 children.

We are in the process of selling her car, to pay for additional medical expenses, but have started this go fund me page to raise money for mum to go on her final holiday, it is her dream to go on a cruise, she has never been on one.

The aim is to raise enough funds for her and a nurse/support can travel with her to make sure that medically she is safe during her travels

This was our last resort, to give mum the time of her life, something that she deserves and if one of us could swap places with her we would.

Mum is our world, our kids world and she is such a huge part of our life and to see her last option only having a 60% of success and a higher percentage of risk breaks my heart that we can not do more for her.
