Help Jule go to school this year!

Hi I’m Jule, I’m a queer and trans artist living in Melbourne. 

My dream is to be able to work as a makeup and hair artist. I’ve spent the last 2 years dedicating my time to learning, researching and practising my work as much as I possibly can, becoming more and more passionate along the way.

This year I want to study a Diploma of Specialist Makeup Services and Certificate III in Hairdressing at Victoria University. Gaining these qualifications will open up countless employment opportunities for me, as well as providing me with the tools and knowledge I need for my personal art practice.

Unfortunately, the course and material fees are unobtainable for me. Whilst the Diploma fees are covered by VET/FEE-HELP, the Cert III fees, material fees and student amenities fees need to be paid upfront.

I was forced to quit my hospitality job early last year as a result of harassment by staff and customers for being visibly trans. As someone dealing with severe anxiety/panic disorder and depression, working in customer service was extremely detrimental to my health. Living on centrelink jobseeker payments only just cover my basic living expenses, which is why I’m asking for your help.

Altogether, my upfront course fees, material fees, student fees and uniforms come to just over $1500. 
In addition to these fees, I'm required to purchase a freelance kit that comes to around $1500 as well. My goal is to raise the first $1500 just to get me into the course, and just in case I happen to raise any extra it will go towards my kit so that I can start freelancing as soon as possible.

The prospect of being able to earn money as a freelance makeup and hair artist gives me a lot of hope for the future. On top of that, my goals are to create work for runway, editorial and private exhibitions.
