We’ve decided the time has come to let all our friends and family know about the struggles Chase has been going through lately. Back in April he wasn’t feeling well, after two hospital admissions and multiple walk in visits later he was diagnosed with Adult-Onset Still’s Disease. Which is an autoimmune disorder. The rheumatologist is phenomenal and has followed him closely in the past couple months. We were thinking that he was stable and fine, last weekend we even took the kids to the cities to the water park for a little vacation. This weeks labs however were not at all in our favor. A rare complication of Still’s disease is macrophage activation syndrome which can result in a multitude of things but the biggest I think is the 40% mortality rate. However, MAS is extremely hard to diagnose which causes delay in treatment leading to that number. Our rheumatologist is amazing and caught it right away! Currently he’ll be checked into the Denny Sanford hotel until further notice. The good news is tho, he doesn’t feel horrible! Plenty of energy to complain about how bored he is already. We have a ton to be thankful for and sincerely appreciate everyone’s thoughts and prayers.
