Krueger NASA SLI Team Funding

Donation protected
In the SLI (Student Launch Initiative ), the students are asked to design and build a retrievable rocket that will carry a science payload one mile high! For NASA/SLI KSAT this year, the students have been researching fin shape vs. altiltude and the effects of flight on spore growth. They are very enthusiatstic about the competition. The NASA SLI/KSAT project will need your help in getting them to their final flight and testing in Hunstville, Alabama and NASA's rocket center. The donations will allow our KSAT Rocketry team (8 Students and 3 Teachers/Admin) to Hunstville, Alabama on April 5th -10th 2017. These funds will be used for hotel and airfare.

In return, your company's logo will be represented on our rocket and/or shirt, if desired for the competition.

Read from one of the students on the team.

KSAT SLI Team member - Alex Bryant

"In KSAT SLI we work on our rocket that we call the full scale, but we start in making our scale model. Right now, we just finished our scale model and are currently building our full scale solution.

Before everything, including construction, we had to send an essay aka 80 pages long of vigorous work to NASA where were approved and we began the construction.

During construction, we have meetings with NASA to report our progress. We need to make a presentation and report it to high up people. We don’t only just make a rocket we make an experiment as well as a rocket.

My group has two. One, I designed and one my friend Ezra designed. Ezra’s was an interchangeable fin system that we create to see if fin design effects altitude. We reached a conclusion with yes and we chose a clip-delta fin for our fin scale.

My experiment is more complicated and it could change the future of human space exploration. Will increased acceleration impede spore germination. The experiment is to make a capsule that is launched with a few spores and growing unaccelerated spores and accelerated spores at the same time if there is a difference in growth the question is how much and if it’s the same then good.

The main result that we want is if NASA can launch a rocket with spores to test an environment on Mars and if it’s successful it may be the start of something good.

We need the money for travel to Huntsville Alabama where we will launch our full scale rocket. It will truly be an experience. Being part of the rocketry program is a blessing and the fact there is only 8 of us and 100 kids in KSAT that all applied is amazing. The fact I got in and I can get to have a journey like this is great that’s why we need money."

It could not have been said any better. Any and all donations will help these kids achieve a lifetime goal.

Todd Bryant
