Hi,
My name is Stephanie Lagace. Dan Biollo is my cousin and I like to call Mer my cousin too!
- As many of you know, Meredith is her 4th month of dealing with debilitating symptoms which has left her unable to work, do any of her normal life activities, and at its worse, left her completely immobilized and in extreme pain. Her symptoms include muscle tightening/ seizing in her legs, arms and torso. She has been diagnosed with functional neurologic disorder but is still being tested for things like stiff person syndrome and Lyme disease.
- She currently is having some relief from diazepam and other medications.
- Even after 5 weeks in hospital, Meredith is incredibly strong and resilient. She continues to seek treatments from physio therapists, naturopaths, psychiatrists, massage therapists, osteopathic medicine, and traditional Chinese medicine practitioners. She has done everything possible to improve her condition but the pain is still travelling through her body and each day her physical function changes.
- Extended benefits cover a fraction of the cost required to treat this complicated health crisis and as we know disability does not cover much. Doctors are also looking into private care facilities.
- If that was not enough, Dan has suffered a mountain biking injury that him left with broken fingers in both hands (double hand surgery) and broken left clavicle. Dan is recovering with physiotherapy, but with both of them off work, the financial stress is starting to build.
- So many of their community have rallied and helped in ways unimaginable and they are so grateful so please don't feel obligated to do more.
- Any contribution will help Meredith continue the medical treatments that are assisting in her recovery.
