Our lives can change in an instant. In Spring of 2017 Jim “Kroop's” life changed from an able-bodied individual into a coma caused by necrotizing fasciitis , flesh eating bacteria. Both of Kroop's legs were infected, and ultimately were amputated above the knees.
For over a year Kroop has been in various hospitals and rehabilitation facilities. Most of the time he was bed-ridden but through physical therapy and having a motorized wheel-chair, his life and outlook are on the positive trend.
Unfortunately during Kroop's medical ordeal, there was some additional unfortunate circumstances caused by misactions from his Power of Attorney, Kroop lost his medical insurance . Due do these unfortunate misactions, Kroop also lost his home and funds to pay his for his rehabilitation medical care. Jim is now covered by a CT State funded programs which will provide for most of his needs, he still needs our help. Kroop is a proud and humble person, and was hesitant for us to set up a Go Fund Me page on his behalf but knows he has no financial stability moving forward and cannot be totally dependent on social programs.
Kroop's and everyone's goal is to to not only be healthy but also strong enough to live independently. The medical team hopes that this goal will be met sometime within 2018.
We are hoping to raise at least $10,000 to help cover the expenses Kroop will needs for personal items as well as any items not covered by the State. Since his transition to life on the outside of medical facilities is in the near future, we are hoping to help provide Kroop now with the financial assistance he needs, now.
