Hello everyone, my name is Ian Mestdagh and on 3.4.2017 my family and I were told some terrible news. My mom, Kristy, was diagnosed with stage IV uterine cancer. As you can imagine this news took everyone by surprise, and has all of our heads spinning a little bit. She will be starting her first round of chemotherapy next week with surgery to follow. We do not know what the future holds. What I do know is that my mom tends to walk to the beat of her own drum, she is one of the most stubborn, hardworking, courageous people that I know, and this will just be another chapter in her story. After all, she has somehow managed to raise two crazy boys and kept my father in line for all of these years (which still befuddles me). God has a plan for all of us, and he chose my mom to show the world how strong someone can be when faced with adversity.
Because my mom touches so many lives with the great work that she does and will continue to do, we have had an unbelievable response from friends and family. So many people have been asking for ways to help my mom during this time. As we are very new to this process and truly do not know what all maybe needed during it, I have set this GoFundMe page up as a way for people to provide a helping hand if they choose to do so. The funds produced through this will help alleviate some of the financial burden of battling this disease and allow my mom to focus on what she needs to: getting better. We appreciate everything so far and look forward to the support from all of our family and friends throughout this process. God bless all of you.
I will do my best to keep everyone updated on my mom’s progress.
