SHE NEEDED A HERO SO THAT’S WHAT SHE BECAME #TeamKristyn #Kristyn’sArmy
On February 2, 2016 Kristyn Nicole Jaramillo was diagnosed with an aggressive form of breast cancer. Diagnosed with breast cancer at 33 years old, one can imagine the disbelief and heartache to her and everyone who loves her. She has many questions and for many of them she may never have an answer. She asked, “How did this happen?” “Where do I go from here?” One thing is certain, she is a fighter in this battle field of cancer and we are her army of supporters.
With Kristyn’s particular malignancy, few women have a good prognosis because the tumor is very aggressive. Early intervention is a huge factor in saving women’s lives. Thankfully, Kristyn’s breast cancer was detected early. Her fight to recovery includes chemotherapy, surgery, and radiation. Despite her diagnosis and true to Kristyn’s spirit and faith she remains encouraged. She chooses to believe that God has a plan and He is interceding.
Kristyn is a new mom to a precious 5 month old baby boy, Jaxson. Her journey to conceive was not simple, and her pregnancy and delivery were neither anything short from trialing. At 34 weeks pregnant Kristyn was diagnosed with preeclampsia. With her health and baby’s best interest in mind she delivered 6 weeks early. Born at 3.8 lbs, baby boy spent one month in the NICU (neonatal intensive care unit). Kristyn was unable to visit, cradle and hold her newborn baby for several days due to her health state. Over the next several days Kristyn’s condition progressed to a very rare and life-threatening pregnancy complication known as HELLP (hemolysis of red blood cells, elevated liver enzymes, low platelet count) syndrome. Now only 5 months later, she is confronted by breast cancer.
Above all, the timing of Kristyn’s pregnancy is truly a blessing. Its likely Kristyn had the malignancy before pregnancy and a blessing she was able to conceive. In addition, it has been through the caring and nursing of her son that she has received early detection and can proceed with treatment. Remember early detection and intervention is the key to a great prognosis. Baby Jaxson is truly God’s gift. Now she has her angel, her precious baby, who will give her love and endurance during those moments she feels at a loss, and at the end of the day when she feels like her world is falling apart she’ll have Jaxson, a loving husband and her faith to pull strength from.
Overcoming breast cancer is a long battle. Cancer is one of those ugly, repulsive diseases that due to the type of treatment involved, one seems to only get worse before they get better. It’s a fight Kristyn refuses to loose and a battle her family and friends are all certain she will win. What we hope to do is lighten Kristyn’s worry and stress by raising money to help her during her fight. 100% of the funds generated will go directly to Kristyn. Please join Team Kristyn in her fight against breast cancer. Any donation, big or small, will be greatly appreciated.
