Hi this is Kei & Madison

Those who know Kristy know she is a private individual. When she was diagnosed with stage 4 cancer in 2022 she quietly left work and only told a select few. Despite a grim prognosis, Kristy responded miraculously well to her first line treatment. To a point where her PET scan showed no evidence of progressive disease. She and her family were able to take a bucket list trip to Disney Land in spring 2023.

Kristy's cancer began to progress. It metastasized to other organs. After several visits to ER and a handful of admissions through Decemeber 2023 and January 2024, the decision was made to stop treatment. On Feb 16, Kristy was admitted to Lions Gate Hospital with no plan to return home. On Feb 18, she moved to North Shore Hospice to focus on her comfort and time with family.

Kristy frequently describes herself and 'salty' and has always been full of sass and sarcasm. She is rough around the edges. And yet, she is known at her work site as the 'office mom' and is highly respected by her friends, family, and colleagues. She advocated strongly for her patients and went above and beyond for them. It goes without saying that Kristy is a fiercely strong, resilient, and compassionate mom, wife, daughter, auntie, friend, coworker, and nurse... Despite her best efforts to hide her true, caring self.

Because of the exceptional person she is, people are asking how to help and support Kristy and her family during this very difficult time. When Kei and I asked her to start a Go Fund Me she laughed and said 'leave me alone' in that very special Kristy way. Eventually, she agreed.

Although she has suffered, Kristy is grateful for all the time she's been able to spend with her family and children. Her family is and always has been the centre of her universe.

All funds will go to Kristy, her husband Bernard, and their children as they spend as much time with Kristy in her final days as well as move through their grief when she is gone from this world.
