Kristy Balluta Jeffries played a large role in the success of many Bristol Bay fisheries and other environmental projects from 1999 until her untimely passing last winter. She made key contributions to radio-tagging studies revealing Lake Clark’s glacial salmon spawning areas and establishing a long-term salmon escapement program on the Newhalen River. She served as an irreplaceable member of an amazing team that documented hundreds of miles of salmon streams at risk from a proposed mining district. Kristy loved her community, serving many roles including: Nondalton Tribal Vice President, Secretary, and Council member, Environmental Coordinator, and President for the Local School Advisory Committee. Reliable, hard-working, quiet, kind, and funny, her dedication to fish resources, environmental protection, and her community were profound and widely appreciated. She is sorely missed by many.
In Kristy's honor, we are raising funds to assist her lovely daughters, Karina and Aureli, as they pursue their future dreams. Kristy absolutely beamed with pride when talking about her girls. With this effort, we hope to support them to the best of our ability on their bright paths forward. Thank you kindly for considering contributing.
