Cancer...we all dread it, some of us fear it, and strong people fight it. Kristy is choosing to fight, in the only way we know Kristy to do anything, with all of her heart and energy.
When she found out the lump was triple positive breast cancer, it was just a fact. Kristy is determined to not let breast cancer define her, rather it is an inconvenience, an annoyance keeping her from what she loves most, teaching. She is in the midst of receiving 6 rounds of chemotherapy and planning for a double mastectomy in April. Another 11 rounds of chemotherapy will follow until December 2021! Yet she continues to focus on her role as a preschool teacher, providing virtual lessons every school day to the kids that adore her.
At the advice of her doctors, out of concern for her weak immune system, Kristy will need to take an unpaid leave from her job as a preschool teacher. As she prepares her body and spirit for the looming double masectomy, she now has the stress of financially providing for herself and her two boys. Kristy works hard to provide for her family. Not only will Kristy need to stop working as a teacher, losing that valuable income, she already had to stop working her second job at a friend's pizza shop. The chemotherapy is draining on her physical body, as she endures a range of medications none of us ever want to put in our bodies. With her head wrapped in a scarf, her body straining to maintain energy, she continues on with daily life because she has to. As an awesome mom to two sweet boys, Ethan and Ayden, she isn't afforded the luxury of taking time off from being a mom.

If you are able, please consider making a donation to help ease the financial burden Kristy is facing. Kristy is fighting against cancer with all of her might, with a strong spirit and physical resilience. We can help her continue this fight by offering a little relief through donations. Please consider paying it forward to keep Ethan, Ayden and Kristy safe and stable in their home, as they are facing such a devastating and challenging time in their lives.
Thank you for taking the time to read Kristy's story. She welcomes all prayers, positive vibes and love!
