After years of waiting, I'm finally taking the next big step in my gender transition journey: ~top surgery~!
I have had a consultation with the incredible Dr. Bluebond-Langner at NYU Langone Health, and am in the process of scheduling the surgery date for this spring as soon as I get a required therapist letter fulfilled.
Though I anticipate my University insurance to cover a majority of the cost of top surgery, there are costs that will fall onto me including a series of pre-surgery appointments and tests, facility fees, surgeon fees, aftercare medications, supplies and meals, and providing monetary support for the physical and emotional labor my care team will be giving me. As a low-income, first-gen college student, cushioning this financial blow as much as I can now is incredibly important.
I am so extremely grateful to everyone that can possibly donate to help me make this procedure a reality, as well as those who are able to share, and for the incredible trans and queer folk in my life who have given me so much love and support at this point in my life.
