Kristin's Top Surgery Fund

My partner Kristin Kavanaugh is someone who has dedicated the better part of the last 8 years helping others to feel more at home in their bodies. Through her work as a trainer and leader at Vitality Community Fitness, she has been the guide to so many folks on their journey to find strength in their bodies, shown so many what they are physically and mentally capable of and pushed her clients and friends to show up for themselves each day. Now, the light of help needs to be shined her way a bit.

This was where the paragraph where I explained Kristin's gender identity and expression to y'all but I've ultimately decided it's not something that needs to be explained to ask for help. Kristin is non-binary and has wanted top surgery for a long time.

In leui of wedding gifts this month we are raising funds for her surgery. The surgery itself is $14,150 all in. We have some money saved from going more low-key for our wedding already and our gym has helped us out by starting our fundraising for Kristin's birthday. This additional ask is to help with not only the remaining cost of the surgery but also the loss of income we will experience due to Kristin’s absence from work. Kristin will need to be off the coaching floor for at least 4 weeks and potentially up to 6. We will need to hire additional labor to cover the classes Kristin typically covers.

While we believe these surgeries and procedures should be accessible and free to anyone who needs them it’s just not the case. We appreciate anything you donate to this fund, small or large.
