Hi Everyone! Morgan here. This go fund me is to help my wife, Kristina, on her journey to recovery.
On Sunday, September 29, 2019 we were getting ready for our drive home to LA from a friend’s wedding in Nevada when she doubled over in pain and had to be rushed to the emergency room. It is now day 9 and we are still in the ICU far away from home.
Kristina was diagnosed with severe diabetic ketoacidocis and pancreatitis (normal levels of a pancreas should be under 160, 450 is where acute pancreatitis usually begins and hers was at 17,892!) Along with that, her triglycerides have shot through the roof. The doctor even said that in his 44 years of doing this he has never heard of that and we were told that had we not come into the ER right away she would have died in the desert on the drive home.
It has been a very long 9 days full of tears, stress, relief, and gratitude. While we are working on insurance and covering medical bills/disability, expenses are arising and without a discharge date in sight, we are both stuck in a different state with no means of making ends meet. Even once I am able to get her home the doctors won’t be allowing her to work for at least the remainder of the year.
So, we promised we wouldn’t be weird about it and are making a go fund me in hopes that some of you can help (even if it’s just by sharing our cause). The doctors are working on getting her back on her feet as I write this now but we have no idea how long that will take given the rarity of what is happening and the severity in which it has hit.
Thank you for taking the time to read this and visit our page and I will be posting updates as they happen. So far we have finally gotten her back onto solid foods as of yesterday and she is able to take walks around the hospital.
