I'm the HR Director at Blough, a metal finishing company in Lowell. We have a married couple (Kristina and Matt) who have worked for us for the last 2.5 years. They are hardworking, dedicated, and good salt-of-the-earth people.

Kristina and Matt have been a couple for 6 years, and you'd rarely see one without the other. They were best friends and married in June of 2023, becoming a family of five with three children. They never really had much, and, like many, lived paycheck to paycheck. But they had each other and their family, and that was all they needed to be happy.

Matt had been experiencing some health issues over the last several months, but neither he nor Kristine was aware of the serious heart condition Matt had been living with.

On Saturday (11/15), Matt passed away unexpectedly at the age of 39, leaving his best friend/wife and children to try to make sense of something so unfathomable and heartbreaking. Below is Kristina's recent post on FB:

"My husband went into cardiac arrest on Friday morning at 1am and went to Ionia and then air lifted to lansing hospital where they told me his brain wasn't getting enough oxygen, Saturday morning at 8:30 he passed away, he lift behind two wonderful boys a step son that love him so much and matt loved him too, his parents, his grandma that he loved with all his heart and his sister and his brothers and his nephews, he also loved Oakley his step granddaughter so much he loved making her smile and laugh, but most of all he loved me so much and I know he didn't want to leave any of us, Rest easy my love till we meet again I will love u forever."
