On Friday April 21 after suffering from some fatigue, shortness of breath and a few night sweats Kristin had some blood tests run and was informed that she needed to head to the hospital at the U of M with a strong suspicion of Leukemia. Randy and Kris arrived at the hospital on Friday night and started the process of more tests. On Saturday it was determined that she indeed does have Leukemia and the type appears to be AML. They started her immediately on chemotherapy. She is on a chemotherapy that will last for 7 days on a continuous drip. The goal is to hit it hard and put it in remission. She will be in the hospital for several weeks as it will take time for her body to recover from the blast of chemo. After the 7 days of chemotherapy are done more tests will be run to see what steps to take next. So far she is tolerating the chemotherapy well. She was able to get out on Sunday for a short walk and the fresh air was wonderful! Good news is that the blood tests show that her white cell count is coming down! That means that the chemo is doing what we want it to! As this has been a very difficult weekend I know that Kris loves the Lord with all her heart and is clinging to the trust she has in Him. Some prayer requests would be:1. First and foremost...REMISSION
2. Rest and Sleep...so hard to get sleep in a hospital!
3. Minimal side affects from the chemotherapy
4. Comfort and peace for her and her family..especially for the kids!
5. Safe travels for family going back and forth from Motley/Jamestown to the U of M
Thank you so much for praying for Kristin and her family!!
