“You never change things by fighting the existing reality.  To change something, build a new model that makes the existing model obsolete.”

Quote from The Vida Center in Costa Rica

Kristin Hogan is a beautiful soul who is an exceptional friend, loving wife, and devoted homeschooling mother to five beautiful children. Kristin first battled cancer five years ago. A few months ago, she began to experience pain in her shoulder, and extensive tests showed that her cancer had returned and metastasized to her bones and around her lungs.

Kristin is participating in a 12-week program with a 3-week immersion at the Vida Center, where she will learn natural healing modalities to support her physically, mentally, emotionally, and spiritually. The Vida Center is a healing retreat center where people with cancer come for 21 days to regenerate an inner environment that promotes a healthy body, mind and spirit, treating the whole person with healthy food, healthy thoughts, healthy environment and ongoing support. This program is not covered by insurance and is very expensive. Please donate what you are able to, so that Kristin can become cancer free once again, and thrive as a woman, mother, wife, daughter and friend.

Please share with your friends. Let’s spread the word, so Kristin is able to take the break she needs and have all the support she can get! On behalf of Kristin and her family, we thank each and every one of you for being part of her healing journey.

Kristin’s Story:

When Kristin initially found out she had cancer five years ago, she followed the medical protocol, never even thinking a different way was possible. All of the surgeries, chemo and treatments wore her down, and were especially challenging because she was still nursing a baby at the time along with homeschooling all of her other children. Kristin has always been a selfless human being, and puts others first. She continued to give her all to her family and everyone around her, even during her most difficult hours and days.

During her chemo treatments, Kristin researched alternative ways of approaching her diagnosis and she changed her plan of healing. When her hair began to grow back and she was told she was good to go and cancer free, she continued on a healing path. Even though she was cancer free, something deep inside of her was heart-broken and angry, blaming herself for initially acting out of fear, and not taking the time to even consider making decisions she felt were right “for her.” She knew that she could eat all the right foods and take all the supplements needed, but if her heart and head were not in alignment or in a good place, none of it mattered. What she learned was the importance of finding the stillness, love and happiness in her soul and taking care of herself with gentleness and kindness in order to feel a sense of well-being and wholeness.

In March of 2019, Kristin reached out to Shelley Whizin, her spiritual life coach, with whom Kristin focused on forgiveness, internal healing and acceptance. Kristin has been learning to put herself first, be kind to herself and take care of her own needs and well-being, not just for everyone else, but for herself. It’s like the airplane instruction of putting one’s own mask on first before helping others. This was a new concept that she practiced in ways that were beneficial for her and her family. The miracle in that realization was she was able to work through the anger and actually heal her heart.

Kristin now feels ready to handle this next chapter in her life with calm and confidence, even in the face of the debilitating pain that she is currently experiencing in her body.  Kristin believes wholeheartedly in her body’s ability to heal and to overcome the health challenges that she is facing. She sees the recurrence of cancer as a wake-up call to make the remaining changes in her life.

As soon as she found out about this current diagnosis, Kristin sprang into action in her own distinct and spirited style. She got on the phone with a few cancer related health experts that she had met over the years through her research in order to select a healing path that resonates with every cell of her being. Trusting her intuition, her spirit and her inner guides, she was led back to Theo Hanson, whom she met at a health conference five years prior. Little did she know then that Theo would become such a big part of her life. Theo and his wife, Kimberly, are the co-founders of the Vida Center in Costa Rica. It was Kim’s experience with Stage II cancer that led them on their journey to find a way to heal in a natural way.

We can all envision Kristin coming home from the Vida Center cancer free, using the NASA model (We got a man on the moon, how did we get him there?) working backwards, saying, “Kristin is already healed, and this is what she did to get there. She went to the Vida Center and totally changed her internal environment and came home healthy as can be.”

As we all know, it takes a village to help a human being, and in this case, Kristin needs support in all areas. While she is away, her husband, Jeff, will be at the helm taking charge of the kids, and her family and friends have all volunteered to help in any way they can through setting up meal trains, offering to pick up and take the kids to where they need to be and being a general support system for the entire family, so that Kristin has this opportunity to dedicate all of her time to healing so that she can experience her own personal miracle. When we believe in miracles, they can happen!
