Michael & Kristin were excitely awaiting the arrival of twin girls the end of February. Mid-November Dr's put Kristin on bedrest and it became a high-risk pregnancy with constant monitoring. December12th Kristin was admitted to the hospital until the birth of the babies. On December 19th 2016, Kristin Tate Rizk was rushed in for an emergency c-section as one of the twins was in danger. Sophie & Annabelle were born December19, 2016, 3 months early and although they needed a lot of care, everything was fine. Then the unimaginable happened. Kristin was to be discharged but fainted while walking to the see her baby girls. Hospital staff were able to get her back to her room and in bed where she fainted again. This time when she came to, she couldn't breathe. From this point forward it was just one traumatic problem after another. They transported Kristin to the local hospital as they suspected she might have a blood clot. They rushed her down to Seattle for emergency open heart surgery and only gave her a 20% chance of surviving. She survived the surgery and was in ICU for 1 1/2 weeks. While in ICU one of the twins, Annabelle, passed away. Kristin remained hospitalized only to find out in recovery that she now had more blood clots in both legs which led to another procedure to insert afilter. Amazingly, Kristin is now in Physical Therapy trying to get healthy enough to take her surving baby Sophie home in March.
