Kristin Parker Appeal for Cal Payne

I am writing this on behalf of a most loving couple, my dear aunt, Annette—whom we call Nettie—and her wonderful partner, Cal Payne.

Cal has recently been diagnosed with adenocarcinoma of the lung.

Cal and Nettie have known each other for over three decades. Nettie lost her first partner, my Uncle Berl, to cancer in 2016. Cal was his best friend, working together on many building projects. After three years, one day Cal approached Nettie and asked if she would like to go out for a Mexican dinner and a movie. They have been inseparable ever since.

Cal’s care for Nettie, and hers for him, is beautiful to witness. They have built a wonderful life together. Finding true love again at their age is a testament to hope. As a couple they are unfailingly open and generous, both with their resources and with their affection.

Now they need your support.

A little about Cal. He graduated from Stowe High School in 1976. He started skiing when he was only four years old, and was known for his graceful classic and telemark skiing on the black diamond trails of Stowe, Sugarbush and Jay.

A cook, carpenter and gardener, Cal is an artist: everything he touches is transformed into something special. He has worked at Trapp Family Lodge, Topnotch and Ten Acres Lodge, and started his own carpentry business in 1988. Word of mouth recommendations include his integrity and hard work alongside flawless building skills.

Cal is gentle, quietly observant and has a wonderful sense of humor. We’re so grateful to welcome him into the family, bringing my aunt incredible joy and happiness.

We all know that medical costs in this country are huge, creating undue stress during an extremely difficult time. We are trying to raise funds to cover medical bills not covered by insurance and lost wages.

Our family would be so grateful for any contribution to help ease their burden and allow my aunt to spend more time at home with Cal. Thank you so much, from the bottom of our hearts.
