Kristin Bassignani's Celebration of Life

I have had so much trouble putting this into words, as my own mind and heart haven't even begun processing the fact that my sister is gone. I drove 28 hours last week to see my sister just in case it was my last chance. She asked over and over again how her baby was, even as she was laying in a hospital bed on life support. I assured her that her baby was safe, happy and healthy with us. I think that was all she needed. She needed to know that her son was taken care of before she let go. I'm so blessed that we are able to adopt that sweet boy and I know my sister wouldn't want it any other way. My sister fought for almost 4 years battling her substance addiction, which unfortunately contributed to her untimely death. My heart is broken knowing that my lifelong friend has passed away.  You could always pick my sister out of a crowd whether it was by her beautiful smile, her amazing voice, or the snort she did at the end of a good laugh. No one has ever made me laugh as hard as my sister. I've never felt that type of bond with anyone else, and no one could ever take her place. We have had custody of her son for almost two years and now, I couldn't be more grateful. I have the greatest piece of her here, who I get to hug and kiss every night before bed. That is truly the greatest gift the universe could have ever served me.  We are trying to raise funds to give her the two most beautiful celebrations of life (California & Arizona) to match her soul and to help offset the costs of cremation. I know so many people who have reached out to me in the past couple days loved my sister so much and I want everyone to be there to celebrate the amazing person we all know and love.
