This is a story about my good friend Kristi Leddy.
An unfortunate thing happened to Kristi in December of 2014. She had a stroke. The first few days Kristi couldn't talk or hear well. She couldn't even walk without someone's help. Through her own sheer determination and with the love and support from her family and friends she started to walk and talk again.
She now suffers from Aphasia, which impaires language and affects comprehension of speech ability, and the ability to read and write. Aphasia is almost always due to brain injuries. Most common being a stroke.
Kristi is currently out of work from the City of Warwick and her TDI and medical benefits have run out. She is hoping to receive SSDI benefits. But in the meantime she has no income at all and bills are piling up.
Kristi is a single mother that raised her 2 children by working hard everyday. She was very proud to go to work and misses that very much. She has always helped family and friends without any hesitation. Kristi is one of the kindest, giving, fun loving and selfless people that I know. That may sound sugar coated, but for those of you that have ever met Kristi, you would agree with it.
Kristi is making remarkable progress after suffering such trauma. Kristi is hoping to recover and eventually work again someday, possibly with other stroke victims. She still has a long road ahead of her, so anything you can give to help would be greatly appreciated.
Thank you,
Tara and Bob
