Kristian Haines , getting back to the new normal

Donation protected
Hi, My name is Stacey and on the 4th March this year my families lives were thrown upside down, when my Husband Kristian suffered a spinal cord injury out of the blue, resulting in loss of movement at our home .
He then underwent emergency spinal surgery in the middle of the night at the QE Birmingham .
The surgery went well but when Kristian woke he could not move his legs and was paralysed from the waist down.
6 months have past with Kristian staying at 3 different hospitals ( QE Birmingham , Russells Hall and Oswestry spinal rehab centre) all as an in patient.
During this time of intensive rehabilitation and physio and Kristian's determination he is making good progress and power is slowly returning to his legs.

Now Kristian is back home, we are now adjusting to the next challenges that coming home brings .The numerous appointments , daily rehabilitation and physio to the mental challenges. All the things you truly don't even think about.

Kristian wants nothing more than to be back being the wonderful able bodied Husband, Dad to our two sons Zachary and Mason, also to just getting back to work.

Life in a wheel chair although we thought it would be difficult, you never quite understand how and when it happens it really hits home, that its life changing in ways we never knew before. From the normal family life, day to day routines, full in dependence for himself to getting around the home. That's without even venturing outside.

My aim for this page is to raise funds so we can make Kristian's life and our family as normal as possible again , whether its a active chair to help Kristian get around easier, to walking aids when they are required or other adaptions we may need to make, depending on Kristian's recovery long term.

Kristian's aim is to walk again, this may take some time and the specialists have said approx. 2 - 5 years. He is showing positive signs, we are truly thankful we know the journey is going to take time. BUT we know how important fund raising is to him. The fund raising he has done over the years, walking 64 miles and the numerous charities that money has helped .As you can imagine that list has got a BIT bigger and now we have a few more that are close to our hearts, that I know we will want to support and raise money for in the future .

Life can throw a curve ball, MY how this one has turned our lives upside down, but in true Kristian style, his courage and determination he is making good progress. He was told he would need a wheel chair for the rest of his life, he said "I believe I will walk"
so wheels are needed for now, so if you can help in anyway to get him back to funding raising we are forever thankful.

Thankyou ,
