Kristi Murdoch Medical Miracle

Three days after what was supposed to be a simple outpatient surgical procedure, my sister Kristi was in the critical care unit at Methodist Hospital in Omaha, Nebraska for three and a half days. Kristi was admitted to the emergency room on the advice of her doctor. She was immediately triaged and placed in a room where several nurses and a doctor ascended on her room. An x-ray machine was pulled into her room to take chest x-rays, blood tests were done, and all vitals tracked. An internal medicine medical doctor diagnosed her with pneumonia in the two lower lobes of her lungs. The most shocking news we received was that Kristi had sepsis, meaning she had infection in her blood stream. She was septic. This could be a death sentence. Left untreated, she would most likely have died. One doctor told her that if she had come in even a half a day later, her outcome would have been much different with vital organs beginning to shut down. Kristi had a high temperature and an extremely high heart rate which was most unusual for a 29 year old woman. She was immediately admitted and taken to the critical care floor where she received IV treatment to include high powered antibiotics and other things that I'm not sure we completely understood. When she was finally released from the hospital, we ended up going back into the hospital because of leg pain which led to us finding out she had a blood clot in her leg. Another dangerous situation. She was sent home with blood thinners (shots and oral meds) that she will be taking for at least the next six months. The whole time this ordeal played out, in the back of all of our minds was the fact that Kristi didn't have any insurance because like many young people, she couldn't afford the monthly premiums. After being in the emergency room three different times, x-rays, CScans, being on the critical floor, doctor bills, prescription medications and who knows what else, this will no doubt add up to be in the thousands of dollars. She really needs your help. Can you reach out and help Kristi with her enormous medical bills? Any donation will go a long long way, thank you for your help and support!
