For those who don’t know me, my name is Kristi. I applied for a service dog from CPL in the spring of 2017 (7 years ago), and in September of 2017 I visited Pennsylvania for an in person interview, they determined I would be a good candidate for a cardiac and mobility service dog. After 6 and a half years waiting for the perfect dog to come along, I have been matched with Tait!
Tait is a 2 year old black lab trained by Canine Partners for Life, and he will be my first program trained service dog. He is trained to retrieve items off the ground for me, help carry items, turn on and off lights, as well as assisting me with my balance and provide forward momentum to help me with fatigue related to my disability. Tait also alerts to cardiac episodes and migraines, which we hope will allow us to treat them earlier and improve the quality of my life.
I will be staying in Pennsylvania for 21 days in June to attend team training with him, and my support person, a requirement for those receiving a medical alert dog. I will be fundraising for the cost of flying, lodging, a rental car, field trips, food and many other expenses associated with this trip.
We greatly appreciate any donations to help make this trip possible and give me the gift of independence!
