Kristen's Chance to heal from a rare form of cancer

Hi I’m Sally.

Last Christmas my dear friend Kristen was diagnosed with a rare form of cancer that none of us had even heard of. The news came as a complete shock to us all, especially her two beautiful daughters who for the first time ever, are now facing the possibility of losing their mum.

We're rallying together to give Kristen the best chance we can, because after years of her being there for everyone else… it's time for us to be there for her.

Kristen’s Story…

If you’ve already met Kristen, you know she’s the kind of person who pours her heart and soul into everything she does.

She’s the primary school teacher every parent wishes their child had. The teacher who inspires anxious students to find their courage, comforts those who are feeling sad, and makes sure her classroom isn't just a place of learning but a sanctuary where every child knows they matter.

Yet Kristen's compassion goes far beyond the school gates. As a single mum to two incredible daughters, she's shown them what strength, grace, and unconditional love look like every single day—even through the toughest times. She has this remarkable gift for lifting people’s spirits, using funny stories, warm smiles, and infectious laughter to help people find their way back to joy.

Now, as she faces this unexpected health journey, it’s our turn to surround her with the same love and support she's given so freely to all of us.

The Turning Point…

Last year, Kristen started having bouts of recurring illness that went on and off for months. She felt exhausted in a way sleep couldn't fix, but like so many of us just assumed life was… a lot. Maybe she was pushing herself too hard?

Her doctor organised some routine blood tests to investigate. Those tests led to further tests and an x-ray. The following day, she was called in for the results. She expected news of a stubborn chest infection that wouldn’t budge.

Instead, her GP handed her paperwork with the word Myeloma on it… and instantly, her entire world came crashing down.

Multiple Myeloma is a rare blood cancer accounting for just 1-2% of all cancers. A bone marrow biopsy confirmed what none of us wanted to believe, showing that 70% of the plasma cells in her bone marrow were now cancerous.

Without treatment, Kristen was told she only had 6-12 months to live.

This type of cancer typically affects older men—not a vibrant 52-year-old single mum with two amazing daughters who need her. Even her doctor was shocked!

Right now, Multiple Myeloma is considered incurable, but treatable. With treatment, there is genuine hope that Kristen will be there to watch her youngest daughter graduate year 12 at the end of this year, and see her eldest daughter walk down the aisle.

These aren't just milestones anymore, but the moments she's determined to live for.

Her approach to healing…

Her first decision came without hesitation—she chose life. She knew she had far too much to live for.

While fear could have consumed her, Kristen did something extraordinary… she got quiet and listened.

In the silence, she understood something profound…. her body wasn't the enemy.

What it needed was help and support to heal.

So instead of "going to war," with her body, she chose a different path… asking “what would love do?

This question led into months of research, deep conversations and thorough planning to create a healing protocol that doesn't just treat cancer but supports her entire being.

Kristen carefully selected a coordinated team of experts who share in her vision: that genuine healing happens when conventional medicine and integrative oncology work in harmony. By combining the best of both approaches, she's forging a new treatment pathway, with holistic healing as the foundation.

Her current treatment plan involves…

5 months of RVD chemotherapy (a triple-drug regimen with weekly injections)
Significant dietary and lifestyle modifications
Targeted supplements designed to block cancer growth pathways
Both standard and off-label medications under close medical supervision
Hyperbaric oxygen therapy
Infrared sauna therapy

The next step in the conventional medicine journey is an autologous stem cell transplant, which involves harvesting her own stem cells followed by high-dose chemotherapy.

Kristen's hope is with the integrative support she's receiving now, she can manage her condition long-term without the need for this aggressive procedure.

Beyond her own healing, she's driven by a bigger vision: to blaze a new highly successful treatment pathway that transforms how cancer is viewed, managed, and treated in Western Australia.

By collaborating with medical professionals, she hopes to pioneer gentler, less invasive approaches that minimise toxicity, maximise long-term wellness and improve cancer patient outcomes.

She's equally passionate about raising awareness around Multiple Myeloma, ensuring that future patients have more hope, more options, and a better way forward.

Why this fundraiser exists?

Kristen didn’t plan to ask for help. In fact, originally she wasn’t even going to tell anyone!

But when the shock wore off, despite thinking she could handle it on her own, she quickly realised that if the roles were reversed, she’d want to know… and she’d want to help.

What many don't realize is that cancer touches every corner of life. It not only impacts your health but also reshapes your ability to work, changes daily routines, impacts relationships, and requires significant lifestyle shifts. (Hello green smoothies, goodbye wine and chocolate!)

With her immune system needing extra protection right now, Kristen has had to step away from the classroom. As much as she adores those kids, schools aren't the safest environment when you're building your body back to strength.

Her integrative healing protocol costs approximately $2,500 per month during this critical phase. Most of the therapies that are making a genuine difference, aren't covered by conventional healthcare. Still, she hasn't wavered in her commitment to giving herself the best possible advantage.

Kristen is so dedicated to this journey, she’s selling her car to continue funding her own treatment.

After hearing this, instantly I felt inspired to take action.

I wanted to help support my amazing, kind-hearted, courageous, funny, fiercely determined friend who is choosing life and investing everything she has to make it a reality.

When friends and family kept asking how they could support her, the answer became clear.

This is it!

Let’s ease this financial burden for Kristen together, so she can channel all her energy into healing, being a mum to her two incredible daughters, and all of the beautiful moments in life still yet to come.

Sally
