Kristel’s big surgery
Unfortunately my endometriosis has attached my left ovary to my uterus and bladder and I have a 10cm intrusion in my uterus. There are only 3 specialists in Australia that specialise in my 3 pelvic conditions which are endometriosis, adenomyosis and interstitial cystitis. Currently I am aloud to be home under the provisions that I take pain relief as directed and if the pain gets worse to go to Monash women’s for surgery even though they recommended I stay in now. My specialist unfortunately is private, it will cost me $6,000 however without work or sick leave for a minimum a month after my surgery depending how it goes I also need to include rent and utilities whilst I recover. Ideally I would prefer the specialist as it is a high risk surgery that could lead to a hysterectomy if something were to go wrong, he is my best chance of saving and preventing what he can providing if I where to go to Monash. But unfortunately time is not on my side anymore so here I am, asking for help from anyone who can. Even if I can’t afford my specialist, if I can at least cover my rent and utilities it will be the biggest relief on what feels like the scariest surgery I am yet to have. I want to be a mother, but unfortunately my body is making it a difficult journey to even attempt to have an opportunity to even be involved in. On Sunday the 31st of January, after my 28th birthday (if my body will hold out until then) I will be administering myself into Monash women’s to start the process. I know it sounds silly but mentally i cannot spend my birthday alone in hospital.
I thank you for your time reading this and for any contributions made to help me pass through this next journey ahead of me.
