Recently, our mother, Kris Sundberg DePerno, was diagnosed with stage 3 inoperable pancreatic cancer. This news has been devastating to our very close knit family of John Sr, Stephanie, John Jr and myself. Kris’ strength and resilience have always been a model for her family, friends and students. Now she needs help.

Kris’ diagnosis and treatment, which includes chemotherapy and radiation, has forced her abrupt retirement from her teaching position at Sauquoit Valley Cental Schools. For 35 years she has impacted the lives of hundreds of middle schoolers, endlessly supplying food, clothes, sneakers and supplies to her neediest students.

Her retirement and loss of full income comes when she needs it most. Medical bills, insurance premiums, copays, travel and all the costs associated with treatment have skyrocketed.

Additionally, my brother, John Jr, will begin his freshman year at Siena in the fall. He originally planed to attend Mom and Dad’s beloved St Bonaventure University but decided to stay closer to home to be closer to Mom while goes through her treatments.

These cascading series of events has caused my parents an enormous physical, emotional and financial stress. That is why I’m asking for your help.
