Hello All,
Many of you know our friend and brother, KP (Kripesh Patel), has been dealing with mouth cancer for the past year. His battle has taken a toll on him and his family. He knows that his family, friends and people from the community he has touched are worried about him. Mentally he remains very strong and he shared with some of us that in his weak moments, he sees how much love is around him, which gets him to that strength again.
At the request of many and with his approval, he has agreed to accept help and let us share his story;
June 2018, KP’s cancer started with a small non-healing blister inside the left cheek.
* Small surgery performed to remove it, but it came back in four months at the lip.
* Another surgery was performed in the lip area. After that, he went through radiation for 7 weeks.
* At end of 7 weeks, cancer returned and now a reconstructive surgery was needed.
June 2019, he went through an extensive surgery and was hospitalized for a month.
* As we were all hopeful this was it, cancer came back in August.
* Another reconstructive surgery was performed which was a lot more invasive and extensive.
* His recovery has been very challenging due to poor circulation from diabetes.
KP remains strong spirited and optimistic. He is putting on a strong fight as his will remains strong!
He is suited up, on his beloved 2005 Harley Davidson Sportster 1200 and racing on the journey to recovery. His pit crew is fueled, strong and ready to help him win this race! We know from college days; he was always on top of his game. He carried a lot on his shoulders early in life and always found a way to succeed. His pit crew is ready to support him as he runs his most challenging race! Go KP!
His pit crew realizes that with his extensive surgery, the road to recovery is a long one… with no guarantees of recovery.
Kripesh is a father of two beautiful daughters, one in college and a senior in high school on her way to college next year. His elderly mother, with limited mobility is living with him and is taken care of by his wife and family. KP is concerned about his health and his family’s future.
His loving wife, Sital has been beside him, every step of the way with a big smile, working hard long hours to keep the house running and still being his primary support every single step of the way. She has helped with his surgery, recovery, medicine, feeding and just about anything she can do to help him, physically and emotionally, in this process. She has been there for her daughters and family tirelessly and at the beck of her call, her pit crew has been ready to support her.
As his friends, we see this struggle and know there is a financial burden on the family. With KP’s permission (which has taken some time and a lot of coercing), we are starting a GoFundMe campaign to help offset some of the burden.
The pit crew is humbly asking you to support KP’s race by considering a donation to help reduce overhead and medical costs. Please consider extending the message to friends and family on social media so that we can reach the community at large. We are hoping to get as much aid as possible, because we know overhead and out of pocket medical costs can get very heavy in these situations. Hence, it is very important we try to reach as many people as we can to help beat our humble goal.
On behalf of Kripesh and his family, Dus Dost friends, and the pit crew, we would like to thank you from the bottom of our hearts for taking the time to read KP’s story and for considering this support request.
Our sincerest thanks,
KP’s family, Dus Dost Friends and the pit crew.
