Krew Haase’s Fight Against Leukemia

Donation protected
Krew is a sweet, happy and typical two year old boy. He loves dinosaurs, paw patrol, ice fishing, camping with his family and playing with his best friend and big brother, Maddox.

April 3rd started like any normal day would. Krew went to daycare and he and his family had been eager to meet his baby brother any day!

While Mitchell was on his way home from work he received a call from daycare stating Krew had no movement on the left side of his face. When Mitchell picked him up, Krew was unable to blink, smile or produce tears on the left side of his face.

Mitchell rushed Krew to urgent care where they ran numerous tests. Initially doctors thought it was Bell’s Palsy, even though it is uncommon for a child Krew’s age. Following blood work, they were immediately sent to Children’s Hospital Minneapolis.

After several inconclusive tests and hours at the hospital, and praying for the best case scenario, they were admitted to the Cancer and Blood Disorders unit and in the early hours his diagnosis of Acute Myeloid Leukemia was confirmed. They began intense chemotherapy treatment that day.

Krew had an MRI and CT that confirmed the Bell’s Palsy in his face was not caused by a brain tumor.

While his parents cannot believe this is happening, Krew has been very brave through the tough side effects of his treatments; nausea, vomitting, exhaustion, night terrors and being home sick.

Krew is currently in his third of five rounds of chemo. Each round of chemo requires an extensive hospital stay of 30+ days. We are hopeful that once he has completed his fifth round that he will have achieved remission.

The financial burden of Krew’s medical expenses, travel from their home in Belle Plaine to Children’s Minneapolis and being unable to work for extended periods of time, all while caring for their newborn, Huxlee, who was born only four days after Krew received his diagnosis, will be significant. We have set up this go fund me to help ease the financial stress for Mitchell and Kelsey, allowing them to focus on Krew during his treatment and recovery.

Please keep Krew in your prayers as he continues his treatments and will undoubtedly have many long, difficult days ahead.
