Mijn naam is René van Munster en ik ben een professioneel cellist woonachtig in Leiden.
Ik speel bij Cello Octet Amsterdam en Oerknal Ensemble, daarnaast ben ik betrokken bij Mimic, een bijzonder muziekproject in de zorg.
Als cellist is het een uitdaging om een goed instrument te vinden waarop je je kunt uitdrukken. Tot nu toe heb ik altijd op een instrument van het Nationaal Muziekinstrumentenfonds gespeeld, maar uiteindelijk wil je natuurlijk je eigen instrument aanschaffen.
Na een tweejarige zoektocht kwam Gudrun Kremeier op mijn pad. Zij is een waanzinnige bouwer in Amsterdam. Ze restaureert allerlei oude instrumenten en bouwt haar eigen (alt-)violen en cello's. In gesprek kwamen we erachter dat we in een cello heel erg op zoek zijn naar hetzelfde, namelijk veelzijdigheid en nuances in de klankkleur.
Zij bouwde voor mij een droomcello, gebaseerd op een Venetiaans Gofriller-model, en die is prachtig geworden. De cello inspireert me om op zoek te gaan naar alle hoeken van het klankspectrum, en het geluid inspireert me om door te spelen, telkens als ik het instrument weer oppak.
Helaas zijn goede instrumenten niet goedkoop. Van de €27.500 die de cello kost, heb ik zelf al €20.000 weten te financieren. Maar ik heb voor het laatste gedeelte jullie hulp nodig. Elke donatie is welkom. Ik hoop dat je wilt bijdragen aan deze droomcello, zodat ik daarmee mijn muzikale activiteiten naar grotere hoogten kan brengen!
P.S. Voor donaties van €250 of meer neem ik graag contact met u op - ik kan in ruil een klein (virtueel) optreden voor u organiseren, of voor iemand aan wie u een cellist kado wilt doen!

My name is René van Munster and I am a professional cellist based in Leiden.
I perform with Cello Octet Amsterdam and Oerknal Ensemble. In addition, I am involved with a special project in the area of health care called Mimic.
As a cellist it is challenging to find a good instrument to express yourself with. So far I have been playing a cello from the Nationaal Muziekinstrumentenfonds, but in the end one would naturally like to purchase their own instrument.
After a two-year search I came to meet Gudrun Kremeier. She is a fantastic luthier based in Amsterdam. She restores older instruments and builds her own violins, violas and cellos. In conversation with Gudrun, I found out that we share the same values when it comes to a great cello - namely, versatility and nuances in the sound color.
She has built me a dream cello, based on a Venetian Gofriller-model, and it is magnificent. The cello inspires me to search for all the far corners of the sound spectrum and the sound itself inspires me to keep on playing, each time I pick up the instrument.
Unfortunately, great instrument don’t come cheap. The cello costs €27.500, of which I have managed to finance €20.000 myself, but for the final remaining amount I am looking for your help. Every donation helps. I hope you would like to contribute to this dream cello, for it enables me to reach new heights in my musical activities!
