Hello, my name is Iryna. I am 48 years old, I live in Kyiv, Ukraine, and I am fighting breast cancer.
I was diagnosed with an aggressive form of breast cancer and have been undergoing long and complex treatment, including chemotherapy, targeted therapy, surgery, and ongoing hormonal treatment. At this moment, I have completed 14 out of 18 cycles of Phesgo (trastuzumab + pertuzumab) - a vital targeted therapy that significantly reduces the risk of recurrence and saves lives.
Unfortunately, this treatment is extremely expensive and not fully covered. To continue living and to be there for my children, I still need 3 more Phesgo infusions.
Over the past year, a significant part of my treatment had to be paid urgently and without delay. We had no choice but to cover these costs ourselves, using all of our family savings -money that was meant for our children’s future and education.
This fundraiser is not only about completing the remaining treatment, but also about easing the heavy financial burden caused by these unavoidable medical expenses, so we can continue this journey without constant fear of running out of resources.
I am a mother of two: son - 11 years old and daughter - 6 years old. They are my main strength and the reason I keep going every single day.
In addition to completing the remaining therapy, I will also need rehabilitation after treatment to recover physically and return to normal life and work. This is a long road, and every step matters.
Because GoFundMe is not available in Ukraine, this campaign is being created with the help of my brother Alexander, who lives in Austria and is supporting me in managing this fundraiser.
Every donation, every share, every message of support means more than words can express. You are not just helping with medical bills - you are helping a mother stay alive for her children.
With gratitude and hope,
Iryna
