My name is Chelsey… and I’m in one of the darkest, most desperate moments of my life.

I’m a single mother with no family. Both of my parents passed away when I was young, and ever since then, it’s just been me and my son. He’s 10 years old—sweet, smart, full of life—and he has no idea how close we are to losing everything.

I’ve fallen behind on rent after having surgery in March that took me out of work. I’ve been trying so hard to catch up since then. I’m working now, but it’s not enough to climb out of the hole. And now, I’ve been given a notice: I have 10 days to pay what’s owed or we’ll be evicted.

I need to raise $2,500 to cover May and June’s rent and keep a roof over our heads.

I’ve reached out to every rental assistance program I could find, and all I hear is “no funds available at this time.” I’ve tried. I’ve really tried. I’ve exhausted every option and now… this is my last one—reaching out to strangers with a shaking voice and a hopeful heart.

My mental health is hanging on by a thread. I put on a brave face for my son every day. I smile, I laugh, I make sure he feels safe—while inside, I’m falling apart. I cry in silence. I barely sleep. I’m doing everything I can to hold it together for him, but I can’t do it alone anymore.
