#KramItCancer Ollie Krambeer’s Leukemia Journey
Donation protected
My 6 year old nephew, Ollie, has always been full of surprises. He surprised my sister and brother in law by being one of TWO babies on the way. He surprised them with an early arrival. He surprised them with how strong 3 pounds could be. He surprised them with an extra chromosome. He surprised them by showing them that he’s unstoppable and the extra chromosome just means extra community.
On December 5th, 2023, he surprised them yet again with a diagnosis of B-cell Acute Lymphoblastic Leukemia. Like all of his surprises, he’s been rolling with it; content as long as he has a cuddle, a waffle, and maybe Bluey. But it’s a lot of financial and obviously emotional stress on his parents, Sara and Andy. His hospital is 30 minutes away in Iowa City. He has to go weekly for lumbar punctures and chemotherapy. Since he’s immunocompromised, he’s essentially in quarantine and can’t go to school. If he gets so much as a fever, he has to go to the hospital. The whole cancer treatment will take two years. Oh yeah, and they have a whole ‘nother 6 year old that still has to go to school and be juggled.
It’s super unfair that financial burdens so often come with the unthinkable. Any donation would be greatly appreciated and help mitigate monetary anxieties.
